Updates – What’s New…

5 February 2010 Comments

So, 20.10 is already in full steam. We are 1/12th of the way through and I’m once again amazed at how fast life moves. I wanted to stop and give a few updates to you all about the site, about the ministry, and maybe a little about my own life. Hope you don’t mind the self-focus for a moment – but the blogging experts say that updates are important – so here we go.

  1. Two new regular posts a week: In addition to my regular blog posts each week you may have noticed that I’ve added a couple other posts. I’m now posting a weekly prayer requests post, as well as the “Hot Now” weekly picks – which is a list of five – ten items of interest that I’ve found throughout the week (blogs, products, videos, movements, and musings).
  2. Posting Schedule: At the beginning of the year I told you that I would be posting on a Tuesday/Friday Schedule – that has not worked out so great for a couple of different reasons. Partially because of my own schedule and as such posts have gone out later in the day. I want to give enough time for people to read a post and have a couple days in between. Plus since I posted that schedule I’ve decided to add two new post features to the schedule. So the new schedule will be:  Monday: Prayer Requests and Blog Post, Thursday: Blog Post, Saturday: Hot Now Weekly Picks
  3. Facebook Page: As you may know I’ve added a Facebook Page – you can find a box on he right side of this page where you can click to become a fan. We’ve already hit 349 fans (I consider you friends more than fans but that’s what FB calls it). I have enjoyed this page because it allows me to post a daily inspirational message, prayer, or word of encouragement. It is also a place where you can post prayer requests or comments, questions, etc. I will continue to post messages on a regular basis. I’ve also started posting my speaking schedule on the facebook page as well. Please join us and spread the word. You can click the links on the box no the right or go to www.facebook.com/livegrace.
  4. Speaking/Booking: I just signed a contract with The Maximus Group Speakers Bureau. I’ve been talking with them for a little while now and as I’ve come to know their organization a little more I felt it was a good fit. As you know my wife and I have decided to open the door for me to travel as a speaker again and I’m very excited to work with Maximus to coordinate that. They will handle all booking and arrangements. I think this will be nice so I can focus on the ministry and relationships and let the logistical stuff be taken care of. You can still email requests to booking@livinggracefully.net and I will forward that to them, or you can go to www.tmgspeakers.com and contact Maximus directly.
  5. E-Book: I will be publishing a 9 Day Devotional E-Book for teens that will be available sometime very soon. I may have it out by Lent – but most likely will be a little late. It will be available for purchase individually or as a group download that will allow distribution to youth groups. Also, Maximus will offer this to groups that book me to speak as a free download to each participant. I’m very excited about this because I’ve always wanted to have something to leave behind to help the people I speak to (teens and adults) continue the journey.  (If you have any interest in helping me complete this project I could use financial support to pay for the graphic design and set up as an E-book.) – If all goes well with this I hope to publish a similar product for adults very soon.
  6. Fast for Haiti – You may be aware of the “Fast for Haiti” campaign that I started in the days following the Haitian earthquake. Stay tuned as in the next few days I will be writing about my plans to continue “phase 2″ of this campaign. I would ask your continued prayers for this effort and my discernment. Please visit the FastforHaiti site to get more info and to see what others have been doing with the campaign. Also, you can go to www.catholichack.com to find an interview I did on the “Finding Your Keys” Radio show last night discussing the fast.
  7. Mission to Europe – Last and most certainly not least. I’ve been asked to go back to Europe to minister to the teens involved in the Military Community Youth Ministries. These are American military youth who live on bases around Europe. This time I’ll be going to lead a service week retreat in the Czech Republic. In addition, I will speak to youth in Heidelberg, Germany during Holy Week as well. As I’ll be going on Easter week, I will be taking my family. I’m excited about this, as I have found that our marriage can be a great witness to these teens. Angela will mainly be there to support and pray, but will also share with the teens as well. MCYM is covering a portion of the expenses, but we are going to need to raise more money to help cover the flight cost. If you are interested in supporting, please let me know. Many of you were responsible for helping me get to Europe for the last MCYM event I did in August and I am ever grateful for your support of our ministry. You will see a post in the next few days requesting support. You can support this mission financially, through prayer, as well as with donation of airline miles.

God truly is moving in and around us and I am ever grateful to witness his plan unfold and see how he is working all around us. I am praying for you. Look for the Weekly Hot Now picks tomorrow morning. Also, please remember to send in your prayer requests over the weekend to chris@livinggracefully.net. If you want your intention to be kept confidential, just say so in your email.

In Christ’s love and mercy,

Chris Faddis
