Prayer Requests from Readers

19 January 2010 Comments

Each week I post a note on Facebook asking for prayer intentions of our readers. I would ask that you consider taking these intentions to prayer and adding them to your list. Together let us seek the grace of God’s loving care for our needs.

Our first intention of course should be for those affected by the catastrophic earthquake in Haiti.

  • We of course pray for those who lost their lives, “Saints of God receive their souls, receive their souls and present them to God.”
  • We also pray for those who are trapped or injured. We pray that as search efforts continue that anyone else who is still alive in the rubble will be found. We pray for the injured that they are well cared for and tended to and that in their suffering the might find some peace in the arms of Christ.
  • In addition we must pray for the aid workers and relief agencies who are tirelessly working to rescue those who are trapped, to feed the hungry, to distribute food and water, to mend the wounds of the broken, to cloth and bath those who lost everything, to house the orphaned. May the grace of God be with these selfless people who no doubt will encounter pain that is too much for the human soul in the coming weeks.
  • We also pray specifically for the orphaned in Haiti. There are thousands of them, and many orphanages were destroyed. We pray for their caretakers and for the kindness of others to help house, clothe, and feed them. We also pray that many homes would open their doors to these children who wish for family.

PRAYERS FROM READERS:

  • Just a quick note to request prayers for my parents who are 87 and 88.  My mother has alzheimers and my father is her primary caretaker, which is very difficult emotionally.  He also has some trouble with mobility, which makes things more difficult still. – Marianne
  • Please put my Dad (Tom) on your list – for complete healing and feeling/movement in his legs again! – Kelly

From my family

  • Pray for Evelyn, a very close, life-long friend of my grandmother’s who is very ill after having brain surgery to remove a mass, and now struggling with pneumonia and other ailments. For her family, for her friends, and for her as she struggles to hang on. May God’s grace be with us all.
  • For my Mom’s second cousin who died in a car accident and for her children who survived. It appears that her husband who was driving was on drugs. We pray for her children, for her husband to get help, and that her children would be placed in a safe situation for the time being.

Continued prayers for last weeks intentions

  • My family really needs prayers as I am a new nurse who has been looking for a job since June. My husband who is a music therapist who works with special needs children and adults wages will be cut 50% sometime this month. – Christine C.
  • Please say a prayer for the mother of one of my players. She is suffering through an advanced form of breast cancer and lymphoma. (yes, both) Their family could use our prayers right now. Prett tough thing for a 17 year old boy to handle. – Matt M.
  • We lost one of our fellow co-workers in a car accident this morning. Id be most grateful for a prayer for all those who knew and loved him. And especially those who ran the call and were there for his last moments. – Amanda C.
  • Please pray for Chris who has been in and out of the hospital the last several months. He recently had surgery on his leg and will be stuck in doors until the bandages come off. He is very depressed.
  • Also for a young woman we’ll call “G”. She was recently beat up by her boyfriend. Pray for the grace to get out of the situation and that she will follow through. We were also asked to pray for those close to her who are struggling with wanting to get revenge for her.
  • Another man we’ll call “G” asked for prayers for some special intentions. He is struggling with loneliness and temptation.
  • I would like to also ask prayers for my own family as we face financial difficulties including one more major emergency expense that we cannot afford. May God provide for our needs and help us to continue trusting in him.
Heavenly Father, we beg your grace in each of these situations. Pour out your divine help and aid in this our time of need. Shower each of us with your love, your peace, and the comforting joy that belongs to those who hope in you. May your will be done and may our hearts be transformed in each of these situations.

“Eternal God in whom Mercy is endless and the treasury of compassion inexhaustible, look kindly upon us and increase your mercy in us that in difficult moments we might not despair nor become despondent, but with great confidence submit ourselves to your holy will which is love and mercy itself. Amen” (From the Divine Mercy Chaplet)
