Sainthood Sunday: St. Firmusus of Uzes

Meet St. Firminus.

This young man was made a bishop at the ripe old age of 22 years old. Twenty-two!

I think a lot of people take for granted the responsibility that the bishop is under. He makes a vow to be responsible for shepherding the diocese. That is a lot of responsibility to be under. You are literally responsible for serving the souls that are in his diocese.

Conversion

This afternoon I was listening to Matt Maher’s new song, “Alive Again” which is a song based on the conversion of St. Augustine and his famous quote, “Late have I loved you.”
I began thinking of those who have yet to find God, who have yet to allow God to find them. My heart began to break – where oh Lord are your children? I think of those many friends of mine from long ago who I have not talked to in so many days. Friends who if it were not …

St. Francis

As we look at the life of Saint Francis, there are so many examples for us to follow. I would like to concentrate on one.

His rejection of Pride.

Earlier in his life, Francis was known for being quite the playboy. The son of a wealthy cloth maker, Francis had all the world at his disposal. Parties, women, and wine were his for the taking and no one really questioned is desire for these things. His desire for glory led him to war, where he started to ask some serious questions.
