“Grace – It’s the name of a girl…”

“… It’s also a thought that changed the world.” – U2 – from the song “Grace”
What is grace exactly?

Is it just the name of a girl?
Is it just a “thought” that changed the world?
Is it just a term to describe a beautiful dancer who seems to perform without effort or flaw?
Is it just something we say before a meal?
Is it some ethereal notion of a cosmic force that feels good?
Is grace just some thing we Christians like to think of when things are going good and complain about when things …

9 Days to Living Gracefully

I’m excited to launch my first email series: “9 Days to Living Gracefully”. This series is aimed to help you in your journey towards heaven. In the next nine days I will lay out for you a vision of what “living gracefully” looks like as well as offer you some practical ways to go deeper spiritually.
Each day you will receive an email with a reflection, some questions to journal and reflect on yourself as well as some simple prayers you can use to go deeper in your prayer life.

I Confess

I confess to almighty God and to you, my brothers and sisters, that I have sinned through my own fault, in my thoughts and in my words, in what I have done and in what I have failed to do; and I ask blessed Mary, ever virgin, all the angels and saints, and you my brothers and sisters, to pray for me to the Lord our God.
For my failure to trust in God – Lord have mercy.
For my failure to rely on God’s grace – Lord, have mercy.
For my failure to pray …

When Good Men Fall

Editor’s Note:
Dan Kenney has offered us yet another great guest post this week. I am honored that Dan is willing to share so honestly about his own struggles – I hope and pray that these words might help some men to turn away from the sin that is dragging them down. -CF

Infallible Authority – by Fr. Longenecker

I have thoroughly enjoyed reading Fr. Dwight Longenecker’s blog. He recently wrote a five part series on “Infallible Authority”. It is not only very insightful and well explained but a very good read. He has a great style in his writing which is much like having a conversation.
Anyway, I thought it was well worthy of being shared here. I would encourage you to read and perhaps subscribe to his blog for a mix of fun and intellectual stimulation.

Because I Said So.

I originally posted this article in May but thought it was fitting to repost in light of the recent criticism Pope Benedict has received for his latest encyclical. I have not read this encyclical and will when I have time to thoughtfully and prayerfully discern and listen. That is what I think we all ought to do with our Holy Father’s words – he is the shepherd who Christ gave us – it is through the Pope and Magesterium that God’s word continues to be revealed. Guest Post: A Recession Antidote

This is a guest post from Randy Hain, associate editor of The Integrated Life Channel on Catholic Exchange
by Randy Hain
I went to reconciliation a few days ago with a lot on my mind. I have been weighted down for the last few months with work stress, concerns about money and a myriad of other issues big and small. As I went through my examination of conscience, I couldn’t get past the sins listed on the Confession Guide under the First Commandment. I specifically focused on two of …
